What is Combined Defence Services (CDS) Exam

The Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam is a national-level competitive exam conducted by the UPSC twice in a year to recruit Commissioned Officers for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force (IMA, INA, AFA, OTA).

The applications are invited every year in the months of December and May, and examinations are conducted in April and September, respectively.

Eligibility

Officer jobs are available only for unmarried graduates in the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force after passing the Combined Defence Services Exam (CDS). Any student can take this exam after graduation. This exam has two steps. First, there is a written test and after passing it there is the SSB interview.

Educational Qualifications

For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training AcademyDegree from a recognized University or equivalent

What is the CDS exam selection process?

  • Candidates must pass a written exam
  • Candidates who pass the written exam must pass an SSB Interview for intelligence and personality tests
  • Shortlisted candidates undergo a medical examination
  • Candidates are placed in academies based on their preferences and merit
  • NCC ‘C” certificate holders with an ‘A’ or ‘B’ grade are exempted from the CDS written exam for entry to OTA and can directly proceed for the SSB interview.

What are the academies that CDS recruits for? 

Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA), and Officers Training Academy (OTA).

What is the exam pattern?

  • The exam pattern varies for each academy
  • The exam for IMA, INA, and AFA includes English, General Awareness, and Mathematics
  • The exam for OTA includes English

About the Program

CDSE Coaching is typically a six month program. This coaching is pursued by students who are in college but still dream to be in the arm forces. Students can undergo coaching while studying for their under grade courses or even after as students up to the age of 24/25 (deepanding upon the academy they opt for) can take the exam.

LMFDA offers 6 months and 1 year (unlimited) program to its students. If a student opts for unlimited program, he can pursue his coaching, revision, test series, doubts, etc, till he clear the exam.

Our program covers coaching from Monday to Friday followed by mock tests on Saturday.

Last 45 Days before the exam is used for revision and test series.
